Hydrogen...

I am at work, very very bored, and I just watched a clip from mythbusters, how a normal car can run off hydrogen... I am really retarded when it comes to chemistry (I barely passed my class in HS), but is there any race applications to this stuff? In the clip, it seemed very volitle since the back fire almost caught Jamie's stache on fire... I am just curious.

Not at all surprising.

The ignition energy of Hydrogen is very low in comparison to gasoline which, in essence, would allow the fuel to ignite anywhere in the engine it finds an adequate ignition source. Which makes its use in internal combustion engines complicated.

Way to be a dick...

it does it just like a carburated setup would the gas flows in from the intake and combusts not that damn hard :p

From what I understand it will run much hotter stoich than an engine can take, so you have to keep it way lean, and then your shit is weak

sweet, then fuck it. I have access to hydrogen through my other job, and I was just curious for some insane weird project, but if engines can't handle much then I guess I wont bother with the POS honda 90 in the shop...

Maybe ill just blow something up.

and as for you Doucha, how complicated could it be if an old carburated buick can run for a while until Jamie bumped up the regulator... It seemed to be a simple HHO setup to me.

he only ran it for a few seconds before the backfire. not enough time to heat things up

I've been pondering converting an old lawnmower to propane... apparently it's as simple as shoving a hose in the carb and using an adjustable valve as the throttle.
