ideas? I have a small oil leak pooling near the rear of the pan

I was wondering if you guys could give me some ideas on what to check. Ive spent some time going around and under the car with a mirror and a flash light but cant seem to find anything. Ive sprayed it down with brake kleen and I keep seeing a small drip. on the rear center of the pan,. some oil around the ruber slave seal and around the bell housing.

my car is a 99 and Ive read some posts that indicate it could be a blown oil passage on the head gasket, or a rear main? I'm going to go look again but I was hoping you guys could give me some pointers on where to check for oil or tests I can do to figure this out. I have an event in 2 weeks so If I need to do a head gasket or something semi major I need to get on it.

if it is the head gasket can I just remove and replace or should I get the head checked out? from what ive read seems like the heads do warp a little so perhaps it should at least get measured. sucks just had the turbo off.

rear main

ditto ^^ time to pull the transmission. May as well order a clutch and front transmission seal and do it while you're in there.

can you give any advise on how to confirm this? Ive read the Cam Angle Sensor (CAS) can imitate a rear main. guess I just gotta carefully look at the back of the block again.

unfortunately I think you might be right, due to the oil around the clutch fork boot, going to clean that up a little better and pull it back, a little brake kleen and see if it comes back.

if there's no oil around or on top of the bellhousing, you have your answer

check to see that your slave cyl is not leaking. if it isn't, rear main seal is your problem.
