Identify Me. (Only kinda sorta Miata related)

Hey all.
Few months back I went crazy on Yahoo Japan and bought a set of ITB's for what was listed as BP-ZE for absolutely retarded cheap. When they arrived I compared them to a 1.6 manifold I had laying around. looked very similar but bigger... The port spacing was wider so hurrr duurrr I assumed(wrong) that it was 1.8L! I don't have a spare engine/head that is 1.8 so I couldn't at the time check it out. Doing the turbo thing I made up a plentum for it, fabbed a custom fuel rail and basically made it in to a functional setup. I was going to install it in a few weeks so I grabbed new gaskets. Problemo. See attached picture. I have made an error, full stop. https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1375298256 So to actually get my money out of this thing, I now need to know what the fuck it fits. If you even have a vague idea that can help me out that would be great. In the running right now is a Lancia Delta Integrale or possibly a 4g63 non cyclone(the smaller ones?) I am going to try and aquire some gaskets to help identify it and hopefully make my cash money back on them. And yes they are dual injector for the keen eyes. |
Damn man, sucks you went through the effort to build a plentum for them and they aren't the right flange. Live and learn. I have no clue what they are for.. there are so many motors they could fit. b18 possible? That is a wild guess but I could see through translation BP 1.8 and B18 getting confused.
|
this is what you get for going ITB.
|
I highly doubt it's a B18 as the B18 port spacing is close enough that you can cut off the flange of a B18 IM and weld on a Miata one.

I feel like it must be at least a 2L engine by the size of the port spacing.
|
To get things in perspective, is that a 1.6 or 1.8 gasket? Bolt spacing looks so close pattern-wise that I'd mistake it for a 1.8 flange on a 1.6 gasket.
|
That would be a 1.8L gasket on the mystery flange.
|
Gotcha. Then I'm out of suggestions :giggle:
|
Maybe i don't know how to ITB, but why not just build some adapter runners?
How hard could it be? |
Is that the Techno Toy ITB adapter for Toyota ITB's?
Or something similar? I have no idea. I've exhausted my CR knowledge. |

It is a Japanese company called ARRAM, they make throttle bodies for OE stuff. It is dual injector and very odd. Very little info on the net.
Because it came up in another forum, port spacing is 100mm center to center. https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1375323423 Sucks that I fabbed up the rail and plentum and it won't work... |
I'm amazed that someone would do all that beautiful work without even verifying what the heck it even is lolol
I mean seriously, do you just love to piss away big amounts of time and money? haha it really is pretty lookin though |
True story. I'm crossing my fingers that OP lives near me and wants to make money on a side job or two.
|
Hey, I know it was bone headed! Just means I have to make another one at some point.
I am glad I didn't make it dual plane like I originally intended. That would have truly been a waste of time. But seriously it looks the part and was labeled as ITBs for a BP! Other than it being to big it actually does look like a BP flange. And I didn't have a head or gasket to compare it to at the time other than a 1.6 intake. I live in Canuckia on the West Coast and love doing odd fabrication. |
Maybe its a Mitsubishi flange? IIRC their intake manifold flange has a similar bolt layout.
|
the 4g63 is way bigger openings and way wider......unless is some other mitsu you're talking about
|
vibrant should have flanges listed with the specs on them. cross your measurements with the popular flanges listed by them. hopefully you can get an answer. should be easier than ordering more incorrect gaskets.
nice job on the aluminum work BTW! hopefully once you learn what it fits you could break even and learn from the experience. it wasnt a waste if your learned something from this. |
