Increasing rev limit on the VVT
Just double checking what I've read so as to make sure I don't goof something up.
I've got a TSE shortblock (Forged rods, billet vvt oil pump, supermiata damper) coming in the next couple weeks. I have a VVT head. With a TSE Shortblock, all I need is upgraded valve springs (Preferably the dual mass springs) to help with the VVT harmonics to be able to rev higher, correct? I'm looking for 8k-8500 rev limit, have the head off of my current VVT engine, and have no problem putting in an order tonight to TSE or 949 for springs. |
I would've added SUB lifters too.

Or shimless buckets...

Pretty sure andrew doesn't advise reving past 7400 on vvt heads.
Then you have people like fae claiming to rev to 8 for years with no ill effects. I'd trust the guy building your engine. |

VVT is worthwhile on every application. |
Yeah, just ask andrew. I think he told me valve springs and throttle body (skunk2 or epoxied oem) are all you need once the bottom end is strengthened, but I'd just call/email him.

My setup have once (by misstake) seen 10.3k without valve float...
But I don't have even one hour above 8k, yet. SUBs and ST single springs would probably be enough on stock cams. |
I can send springs with your engine, just email me.

Sounds like I've got it sorted out guys, thanks for the help!

Fae's car is currently down because his VVT actuator broke. He believes it is from over revving, not sure how high or how constantly.

With the valve springs you're going to get from sav and stock lifters my car spins to 8500 without complaint. I really wish I thought to get the subs on the first go around, but I'll put them in the next engine after this one blows up.

I'm just going full on CNC head with my next setup. When I originally made my plans for this build, the CNC head didn't exist yet :(.
