My shit's a DD. What's wrong with wanting civility coupled with performance?

18psi Jan 24, 2011 12:40 PM

Race mode. Urry day. Like a boss.

straight pipe.
filter on turbo.
vta bov
ewg
straight cut gears
fully gutted
solid mounts
no windows

anything less and you're a pussy

Braineack Jan 24, 2011 12:41 PM

Cool story brah.

Last time I was on the Track, I turned my a/c on.

Oscar Jan 24, 2011 12:44 PM

Last time you were on track, there were separate lanes for whites and coloureds.

What i should really say is the guy on m.net who think it's "omg so loud that everyone hears me coming and it screams I am doing something illegal!!11!!1"....the intake isn't all that loud outside the car, you can't hear it 50ft away unless you're at full-tilt over 5k rpms. It's simply not al lthat loud even when goosing it at mid-rpms or from a stop light.

My BOV on the other hand....get's looks from 100+ft away :giggle:

Braineack Jan 24, 2011 12:47 PM

I do wish my BOV was louder. I do like letting it loose when i pass another "tuner" car.

18psi Jan 24, 2011 01:02 PM

I like to disable overrun cut every now and then and make people duck thinking they're getting shot at:giggle:

magnamx-5 Jan 24, 2011 01:16 PM

I found that when i fitted a obscenely larger filter, the intake noise went down dramaticaly. I did have to french my hood to accomadate the 400+cfm static flow filter though.

y8s Jan 24, 2011 01:37 PM

turbulence is noisy ... hence why large filters, large diameters, and horn flares reduce the suck noise.

Braineack Jan 24, 2011 01:44 PM

I have a nice 3" filter tube that reduces to 2.5"

I was never this loud on my garrett turbo...

Turn on flatshift with the ms. Thats way more fun.

18psi Jan 24, 2011 02:00 PM

My transmission begs to differ lol

Get a RFL....you'll make people flinch alongside the road...

18psi Jan 24, 2011 02:16 PM

Have you heard an RFL on a 35r setup running 30+psi? holy shit hahhaha you will not only hear it, you will FEEL it:giggle:

Doppelgänger Jan 24, 2011 02:20 PM

Fuck...at that point, you might need two RFLs

JasonC SBB Jan 24, 2011 03:02 PM

As for the turbo hiss, Keith @FM has posted about home depot foam around the filter to quiet it down.

chicksdigmiatas Jan 24, 2011 03:24 PM

You can make a cool air box out of coroplast. It wont melt. I swear. Free material (election sign) and easy to work with (scissors). It is a win win.

richyvrlimited Jan 24, 2011 06:40 PM

What's coroplast?

I used to be of the same opinion re intake noise, and have ribbed other members on it, but I'm older now and the noise has gotton old and annoying now.

richyvrlimited Jan 24, 2011 06:42 PM

Excuse my ignorance, but how would this help?

I don't use mine on my turbo.. lol. Umm, coroplast is the plastic cardboard from election signs. Useful at making Ducting and RC planes.
