Innovate's MTX-D Boost/Shift gauge help

Hey guys,

I have had 3 Miata's before, this is my first #1st MSM. I have installed Innovate's MTX-L Wideband and a Innovate's MTX-D's Boost/Shift gauge. I have sourced power, legit ground, and the RPM signal from behind the cluster. The issue I am having is my RPM signal is way off the charts. I then found a 04 MSM wiring diagram finding that the Tach signal comes from a microcomputer behind the ECU. So I ran a wire to the signal side of the ignition coil (Brown/White) to the same result as the signal behind the cluster. Then after reading the directions again...

The directions say:
A tach signal can not be acquired from the negative lead of the coil on vehicles with CDI ignitions. For these applications use the negative lead of an injector or a tach adapter (if available for your model ignition).

Go me for remembering that after I looked up the diagram. I then tried the signal side of Fuel Injector 1 (Yellow/Black) Yet again the same results....

I tried every form of programming the gauge, you can set it for 2 cycle, 1 Pulse or 4 cycle, 2 Pulse or 1 cycle, .5 pulse....

The best and closest result I have found is 1 cycle and at idle it reads pretty close at 800 RPM but when I rev to 4 grand, it reads 3,000.

Has anyone else installed it? I am running out of Ideas.

Was this ever resolved? Looking for the same solution on a 2001
