Installing a Squaretop W Stock 2000 NB

When installing a square top manifold there are many different answers. Is there something you need to remove when installing the manifold? I hear people mentioning the VICS and some saying not. Thanks for reading.

Things i transferred over when i did the install in December 2019:
- EGR valve
- EGR pipe
- Throttle body
- Throttle cable bracket
- all necessary vacuum lines

The VICS system is contained on the IM, so when you remove the stock intake manifold, the VICS system goes with it.

Did you use the stock EGR valve and tube or did it have to be tweaked to fit. Since the VICS was removed did it cause an engine light?

The EGR valve & tube fit just fine for me.

I was already running a megasquirt ECU so no CEL. I do not have first hand experience with a stock ECU.

You won’t get a CEL. The ECU doesn’t monitor whether VICS is online or the circuit broken.

I guess you could try running without VICS plugged in for a few days if you don’t believe. But Carb approved coldside supercharger kits exist with intake and vics completely removed - all with the stock ECU.
