Keep vtcs with ms pro&turbo?
 

Im going for low boost with a t25. I have the ms3 for my nb2. What is the situation with the vtcs? Can I keep it in so I can always go back to stock?

install a VICS manifold and control those butterflies instead.

budget build man. like waaay budget lol. I'm on a island of hawaii with very little supply. I'm wondering if it's safe to run the vtcs at just 160hp.

it's safe to run vtcs at any power level. in fact, if you do nothing, it will just stay open and you don't need to worry about literally anything.
only downside might be the car running a little rough on a cold start for like 30 seconds, which you can easily fix with tuning

regarding your inquiry, why would you keep it operational? I thought it was only for emissions? Or are you talking about stock ecu application?

I cold start the car every morning, and it is extremely important to me that it runs flawlessly, like OEM, for even those 1st 30 seconds.

I just want to be able to do it, even if I don't end up needing it.

Also because later when I switch to VICS it will require nothing but changing when it activates/deactivates (rpm vs clt)

But shortly after I traded the white miata the battery died, so now I'm thinking ALL of my issues (which really weren't issues) may have been from that, because even after I put it back to stock it was still a bit sluggish while cranking sometimes

I remember reading about cold start idle issues associated with vtcs removal but I thought it was only because the stock ecu expected it to be running. Is it the case that vtcs actually helps a car run better or is it a tune issue? Because if it's going to run better compared to a always open vtcs, I'd also like to control it with the ms3.

it doesn't affect cold start. They are open until the car actually builds vacuum, which doesn't happen until it actually started.

next time you cold start your car, drive it immediately and you'll see what I mean. it usually takes them about 1-2 minutes to finally open up, during which time your car will feel like it has 20hp and when they start opening up there will be a sudden rush of power
