LS ACDELCO D585 Coil Life

I installed brand new AC Delco D585 LS coils on my new VVT build about 6 months ago. I only have 1300 miles on the new enine, but Cylinder 2 coil gave up the ghost yesterday. I was bumping boost up from the ~14psi wastegate boost to about 17 psi. Had to limp home on 3 cyclinders. I have heard stories about cheaper aftermarket LS coils crapping out without warning, but I thought these AC Delco ones were supposed to be the good ones and good for a ton of boost. I am grabbing a local carquest limited lifetime coil as a temporary replacement till I figure out what the best replacement will be. I hope this will not be like my Toyota COPS that seemed to poop out one coil a year on average. I used to just carry a spare in the trunk so I didn't have to tractor it home on 3 cylinders!

Anyone else had issues with AC Delco coils?

What spark plug gaps do you guys run with the LS coils? I was running 0.032" at first, but have gapped them down to 0.028" like I used on my Toyota COPs in the past. Seems to be working better now.

What dwell were you using? Post up a copy of your dwell table.

I had Nominal Dwell set at 3.1ms which is likely a carryover from the Toyota COPs I used to run. I was not using a dwell table. I changed settings to use the dwell table and formatted the table as shown below based on what I found in other threads. I will take it for a test drive tonight. Still wondering what gaps you guys run on the plugs.

Running shorter than recommended dwell times should not have caused my AC Delco coil to fail prematurely right?

Low dwell should make them last longer. Dwell too long should not smoke them either, just the motor.

I always run used ones from the junkyard and I haven't had to toss one yet. Due to threads like this, pretty sure all (100%) of the aftermarket ones are garbage, so I only get them used from the yard.
