I was not aware of the BEGI kit until this thread. I'm not sure if it was available when I ordered the M-tuned kit a while back.

The quality of the silicone hose is also poor given the price to the point it developed a small nick/leak caused by the poor quality of the hose clips. Both since replaced with quality kit as I don't fancy it giving out on track. The thermostat housing also needed silicone to get it water tight.
I've installed a couple of M-Tuned reroutes now (2 or 3 of them) and only with the last install did I have a t-stat housing leak, because I was too hasty getting everything assembled. I have a pair of them on the way, so I'll take some photos of how everything needs to be situated in order to avoid leaks.

The hose is silicone, so unless you replaced with Samco parts ($$$$) the hose you replaced it with isn't as good as what was supplied in the kit. The hose clamps are nothing special, but unless you used an impact or a 9ft screwdriver on them, they should not have cut into the silicone hose. I've already mentioned the t-stat housing - using silicone to seal threads is a major kludge. If anything, you would want to seal those threads with an o-ring of some sort, which shouldn't be necessary since all of the sealing should be done at the thermostat itself.
No offense taken. The housing was put on first with the motor out with no sealant to the gasket and it leaked, made a new paper gasket fitted with sealant; no leak. The hoses might be silicone but its thin stuff all the same. Perhaps your right I could have nipped the clips up a bit too tight but have since replaced with Samco and Mikalor clips. The o-ring would be a better solution and will get on to it once I've ordered a couple of the correct T stat seals; well ya can't beat having a few spares. Thanks |

mine is leaking a bit as well. I kinda like the idea of the thermostat on the block. I had a lot of work to do in a short period of time so I pulled the trigger on the M-tuned kit. I think if I did it again I would go with Begi, cheaper and stat on the block.

From a practicality stand point, I think it's a terrible idea. I've had to change enough thermostats to NOT want to f-ck with one on the back of the head. Has anyone placed the t-stat a little further down stream with success? I realize its against rational placing it further from the head, however, if I can get away with it I'd love to gain additional access to the t-stat. -Zach |
bringing this back up. I ordered this seal and they screwed up and sent me 10 of them. If anyone needs one of these I'll send it out for free. Just hit me up and send a buck or two my way for shipping. Yes, I know the seal is $2 but if you can't find it locally, shipping is $5 or more.
