Or maybe the peak cylinder pressure is just a bit too much for the pencil rods?? Try an FE3 rod/block/head, barely longer stroke, much bigger bore, much stronger longer rods, perfect. Where is Rob's sig when you need it?? :-)

Fred.

Stephanies pics were of my car. I thought Matt was a nut for having a blown motor. Shows what happens when you think! 17lbs of boost bent rods 1 and 4. The pistons looked fantastic, just a nice hue of bronze with minor carbon build up. In fact, they are on there way to the Domican Republic now! I kept #4 rod for posterity's sake. It was shortened by 1/8 an inch and slightly twisted as well. I got Wiseco 9.0's and Eagle Rods from Alamo Autosports and now I can really turn it up. Woohooo!

Wow, all that carnage.

I'm so glad I just bought a little bitty turbo and don't plan on seeing much more than 200rwhp(if that).

Im running 275hp at 15psi on stock internals and have no problems. Pauls been running The Machine at 300hp/15psi for well over a year now with no internal problems and in october he turned it up to 311hp. Still going strong.

You can't run a car at 13psi with a 12.6 afr. Thats way too lean. Why wouldnt you just tune it for 12.1 afr instead of pushing the car more?

For shizzle, nizzle. Give me about a month. I'll have the car back on line, and we can all meet up for my dyno tuning session. Of course I am not sure if BEGI's dyno can support a weekend tuning session.

Steph, think you guys might be up for a Saturday dyno day?

Hopefully I'll be back in Dallas kickin it with Caviar and Cris by then...and we do we need a dyno session? Why not beer and ALMS or something on TV?

Or even better, meet up for a track day at Harris Hill?

Dyno session not necessary. Hanging out somewhere or Harris Hill could work too.

Most likely. Just needs to be scheduled in advance.

Matt said he was going to do a dyno day in Houston when his engine is broken in. We are going to try an organize one for march or April too.

Ahh you know I did not think about the break-in period. OK so March will probably be more like it for my dyno session. I will have to force myself to unplug the EBC until then

For real. I don't' know if these bitches can't tune or if you got a factory freak for an engine. I think they all ran too lean at full boost. Paul, what AFR do you run at full boost?

Only if 11.6-12:1 is 'too lean' at 15 psi, at least in my case.

That'ts probably ok, though your spark table was, IMO, a bit aggressive. My motor would knock with that much advance in boost. I'm running 11.5:1 by 11 PSI, and 11:1 if I were to run 15. FWIW, I heard Matt was running ~12.8:1 at 13 PSI. Too lean IMO.

Hmm... I did not think it was that aggressive in boost. It is a few degrees retarded from what Paul said he was running in the famous timingz thread from what I can tell. It is much less aggressive than the map Ben posted, and less aggressive than several others in that same thread.

Anyone else think my map is over the top?

I thought you were running Ben's map. Whoops. Your map is very conservative in low boost. I run 5* more than you around 150kPa, but in high boost, toward redline, you run more timing than I. Curious, about what RPM did the motor go boom? IE-4k at the onset of full boost or were you about to shift and then pop?

It was at the upper RPM range, probably above 5K, maybe 6K.

And you don't know for sure what the peak overboost was- right?
