Mocal oil filter relocation kit issue

I have a MOCAL oil filter relocation kit on my 1998 1.8 NB MX-5 and I've fitted the sandwich plate to the block without observing the IN and OUT markers properly. The plate is now on too tight for me to remove without swearing at it However, I can see an IN marker on the sandwich plate next to one of the ports. I need to confirm if that IN means oil back IN to the engine or IN to the filter mount via the oil line? (I'm thinking it means IN to the engine)

I've found a PDF online for a cobalt filter relocation kit for a Miata and it states the oil route from the engine is OUT to the IN nipple on the filter mount and then OUT of the filter mount back IN to the engine adapter.

I would assume that the MOCAL kit is labelled the same way i.e. OUT of the sandwich plate IN to the filter plate, OUT of the filter plate and finally IN to the sandwich plate.

Can anyone confirm this is correct?

Well I went with the OUT/IN, OUT/IN method.

I hope it's right. :ugh2:

On the plate, the line which is more central is oil into the engine from the filter, and the line which is towards the edge is oil out from the engine to the filter.

Likewise, the port on the filter mount which goes to the middle of the filter is oil out from the filter to the engine, and the port which feeds the outer part of the filter is oil into the filter from the engine.
