motor mount question

I swapped in AWR motor mounts when I was under the car recently. I tossed the old motor mounts to the side and then it occurred to me that I should have used these...

What purpose do these little brackets serve? Did I fuck up by leaving them out? I haven't thrown them out yet, just wondering.

Is it to protect the rubber mounts from rubbing against the subframe or something? The more I think about it, the less necessary they seem.

They provide a uniform surface for the mounts to attach to and spreads the load out between the cradle and mounts. I would advise against leaving them out IMO.

He put in AWR mounts. Those are the "cups" for stock mounts.

Throw in trash.

They're a backup in case the stock rubber mount fails, https://www.miataturbo.net/engine-pe...ed-them-65397/

Moti said to leave them out when I installed my Blackbird poly mounts.

Yeah everything felt fine, I just get nervous when I see more than a few ounces of leftover parts lying on the garage floor.

I was expecting way more NVH, pleasantly surprised so far.

Anyway, thanks guys.
