MSM engine swap NA6 questions

Hello all. After years of waiting an engine and finances aligned to allow us to purchase a msm engine with 107k miles on it with all the parts and a new stage 2 happy meal ready to go.
The na6 is from 1992 with 5 speed and torsen dif.

We are going to be using some form of ms pnp system. I know a full custom harness with an ms3evo would be amazing but my wife wants to leave the factory harness minus some few changes. We are planning to use the na6 CAS.

Is there a way to use or wire the stock msm coils with the na6 wiring harness?

We will be ditching the stock intercooler for an eBay unit and tubing. Will have to do custom down pipe.
Will be using a 1.6 throttle body with vtpms from autotragic 1.6
We are thinking about slightly larger injectors for a professional tune.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Whats a 2nd stage happy meal? intake , down pipe & exhaust?

you ,might want to read FM's article on 1.8 engine swaps for the NA6 Chassis if you haven't already done so

I would definitely suggest injectors, & fuel pump,
what about brakes? Upgrade to the MsM ones? or upgrade your current pads

hold onto the MSM fuel injector harness in-case you want to change to sequential injection later down the track. Unless this is already the case I have read that in California emissions this is the case?I dont een know if you live there or not. I also turfed the CAS & used a trigger wheel with the crank & cam angle sensors with some rewiring. This is for when i go sequential. I haven't got my head around that part totally just yet. The way I understand it is that you need the trigger wheel to adjust the spark in the sequential setting?

Why are you using the 1.6 throttle body? Does your new engine not come with one?

as far as the using MSM coils.
I've got standard Toyota coils. Ive wired them into the NA6 harness. It can be done I guess the nice thing about using the MsM coils is because they screw nicely onto the cam cover. I don't know anything about the MsM coils.https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...19a025caf3.jpg

Get a pnpMS3 Basic from MSLabs or a MSpnp Pro from DIY Autotune, key word being plug and play, as thats much simpler than rewiring the car, then add a wideband of your choice. Use the MSM cam and crank sensors, use the NB throttle body, TPS, and IAC, and yes use the MSM coils.

Follow the instructions in this thread:

https://www.miataturbo.net/engine-pe...athread-80469/

Because after all, the MSM engine is a VVT engine just without the VVT (along with some other differences that aren't relative). Same cam, crank, coils, IAC, and TPS. You just won't wire a VVT solenoid.

You WILL need at least 425cc injectors, when I first did this I used RX8 injectors, before there were so many ebay knock offs floating around. Now I'd suggest some 630cc Flow Force injectors, or something else in that range.

Follow the above instructions and have it properly tuned and you'll easily make a very fun 200-230hp depending on what intake manifold and exhaust you choose.

Thank you for these tips, this looks like the plan for ahead and we arent looking for more than 225whp and this all sounds completely doable.
I am switching intake from the stock msm to VICS and will run the rpm switch to activate.
Im thinking this is a level 2 fm happy meal (uprated torque) we are just happy to have a new clutch pp fw tob all that stuff.
I will plan for the 630cc injectors. Did not know the ebay injectors were garbage. Bought some "densos" for 115$ for my wrx that have been sitting on a shelf, looks like they will stay there.

Only other real question I have is regarding boost creep. I dont think we are going to do a full exhaust and will likely try and mate the stock downpipe that was cut to the rest of the exhaust. I think its a 2 maybe 2.5" going out back.
Would it be worth it to use the stock MSM airbox? We can just run it as a speed density tune. Do these turbos boost creep bad with a freeflowing exhaust? (no cats god bless alabama)?

Don't try to use the MSM MAF sensor when for about $20 you can ditch it.

I did not have boost creep with a catless downpipe, MBC and stock MSM catback. Now with a 3in exhaust and MBC I cant hold boost to redline. I made 218ish when curly tuned my car, the stock turbo really holds you back.

I sent a PM if you need any of my stock MSM parts.
