Part number 19005218. Round body with a heat sink on the back. These are boss coils.

Yup look for the gm truck coils. The are round bodied. I would imagine that they can be had for cheap used in most areas of the country.

The truck coils are a hotter coil, but for the power numbers we put out and the boost pressures we run you can go with any LS1, LS2 or truck coil and be just fine.

I will say the MSD version of the LS1 coils I have appear to be garbage. I've had Repeated failures. According to Jeremy at FM I’m running stock GM dwell curves and for me they last about 6 months and work great before one of them will start miss firing under load making it run like it is hitting a rev limiter at 5500 - 6000 rpm. Figuring out which one it is a pain. I've had one die completely making no spark and it just started misfiring again. I’ve got 12 coils, two known bad ones and a couple more mixed in that are causing issues.

I’m looking to switch to OEM LS2 coils. Measurements also show they have 3X the spark energy as the LS1. Pretty much dwarfs anything else in terms of the amount of lightening they throw. We are talking stock plug gaps at 30+ psi of boost levels of ignition power I think.

That's what I am running, the OEM LS2. Sure the truck coils have more spark but for the cost I got them for and the boost pressures I'm running I think it will be more than enough.

Like Optima, MSD's been running off its name for a few decades now. I thought about mentioning something about it to you, but figured it was a lost cause since you already had the coils.

There seems to be two different styles or something. Both the LS2 coils and the LS2 truck coils I’m seeing are round body and don't have the steel loop core thing around the body. Your coils look like the ones FM is selling with a square body and calling LS3 coils. When I look them up by part number on a bunch of sites they list them for a bunch of different SUV's but not the High output Corvette or the higher output Trucks. They also cost significantly less. I wonder what the difference is. The construction of yours looks like an LS1/LS6 style construction but configured to mount like LS2/LS7.

looking at the Geometry Id say the LS2 and LS2 truck have a different configuration of bits that make them work from the others, no rectangualr chunk of layered steel.

The shop thats finishing my car is telling me that style is the best. I've already got the LS2 truck coils chpmnsws6 sells so I'm not sure if I should upgrade/change? What do you guys think? going for 400-450 whp on around 20-25 lbs.

Look at the casting numbers. Same part. One pic has dirt on it? That's the only difference I can see.

Those are the most hardcore (known as the D585) but yours will probably work with no issue. They are very strong coils, just not the STRONGEST. It was the original LS1 coils some had issues with. And those are still, all things considered, pretty decent coils.

Mine are technically LS9 coils, however they are internally exactly the same as the LS2 coil
