My new intake manifold!

5 Attachment(s)
I got my new intake manifold from Rob at Flipside customs, I just never got around to taking pictures yet until now. I did have a a questions though before I put it on.

1) Tune, now I know it's going to move my powerband up now am I going to have to mess with the timing at all? I'm getting pretty decent at the AEM but I don't trust my self with messing with the timing, I have no problem adding fuel though, simple enough using data logger.

I also just ordered my 70MM 5.0 Mustang throttle body from JEGS, should be here this week sometime. I did some port work on the runners also.

New goal 300 whp at around 15 PSI i'll keep you updated.

You know what they say, If you have to ask.....

More than you can afford pal....

...hardly. I came from the car business, if you can't tell me how much, I'm not dumb enough to give you blank checks.

Its a saying fucktard.... How retarded can you get. Hopefully not much worse. Look up satire in the dictionary and try to comprehend its meaning.

seraph Jul 11, 2009 10:58 PM

wow, that's dope! I bet you had to overnight that part from Japan!;)

bump for an answer to my question!

do they have any dyno proof that its better than stock? Was spool increased? did top end power go up?

like did they dyno car A with stock mani, and then dyno again with only changing their mani?

I like how they don't powder coat the flange surfaces, unlike BEGI.

Make sure you order the right "mustang" TB, they change the bolt pattern when they went to the 4.6. BEGI uses the 4.6 bolt pattern which is much smaller.

No, but considering I will be drag racing the car the huge plenum will help it breath up top along with the 70MM TB and the short runners. I should make a lot more power up top, and the boost path is greatly improved.

Wait? I ordered the 5.0 mustang TB the bolt pattern looks like 5.0 not the 4.6.

ftjandra Jul 12, 2009 02:24 PM

Measure the bolt pattern and I'll tell you if it's a 4.6. I have the dimensions for the 4.6 somewhere around here as that's what I used for my custom intake manifold.

Yah I did the thing, most flanges you can get for custom sheet metal intakes are for the 5.0 tb. The 4.6 is rectangular instead of square, uses tiny 6mm thread holes, and smaller overall. I just went thru this all with BEGI a week ago, but damn I can't remember the bolt spacing. I think it was around 76mm x 67mm.

Rob @ flipside should know what he used.

Looks good, hopefully it performs well! I think I'm going to have one made locally, something along the lines of what BEGi was supposed to produce.

Savington Jul 19, 2009 10:48 PM

Did Flipside do any flow analysis on this piece? I want an intake manifold but nobody can show me flow figures.

neogenesis2004 Jul 20, 2009 01:10 AM

I doubt it. None of the IMs on the market for the miata have any flow data. You would need to send them your head for it to be meaningful.

Savington Jul 20, 2009 03:00 AM

I'm not worried about overall flow, just equal flow. There were a lot of designs in the thread that Scott/Matt had a while ago that had terrible/no flow to cylinder 1. I'm ready to drop $500 on an intake manifold, if someone can show me the flow data that proves that it's not going to burn up my motor.

y8s Jul 20, 2009 09:46 AM

sav, just pay to ship a bunch of peoples manifolds to that dude leshok on this forum. doesn't he live nearish you?
