N/A intake CAI temperature
What kind of intake temps are you all seeing in N/A applications compared to ambient temperature? I am trying to see how I am doing with my attempt at a CAI.

Here is a pic of mine. I have since added some insulation inside of the box and wrapped the intake pipe in radiant barrier. I am seeing roughly 15 degrees higher than ambient.

Probably heatsoak of the sensor.

Is there really anything I can do about heat soak of the sensor if it is that?

Sure, move the sensor. Or insulate it. For that matter, i notice you have a metric shitload of wiring for that sensor just chilling out near the exhaust manifold. Have you checked calibration of that thing? |
Perhaps I am mistaken but thought was told with my Megasquirt I just had to chose GM IAT and all would be calibrated correctly.
I'll look at insulating it better. Thanks. |

Yes before starting it is roughly at ambient. Just put some thermal barrier around the sensor. Hopefully that helps a bit.

2-5F over ambient. No heat soak or hot restart issues. I do my testing by getting the car fully hot and the letting it sit with the hood closed for ~20 minutes so everything heat soaks. Then driving on the highway to see how close the intake temp will get to ambient.
Putting the IAT sensor outside the engine bay helps a lot with sensor heat soak issues. |
