N/A mods you keep after going turbo?
I have a 2000 Miata that is stock aside from aftermarket wheels. I'd like to make the car a little faster for now, and am considering eventually turbocharging the car. I would like to install mods that are useful if/once I go turbo.
First mod that comes to mind is a MS from Reverant. What else is worth doing on a N/A car that may eventually be turboed? Square top intake? Exhaust/Intake cam? Thanks! |

Brakes, coilovers, sways, stiffening, safety, lightening, aero, cooling, etc.
Engine/drivetrain related... MS, injectors (no gain before turbo), built 99 head, 6spd, torsen, COP's Most of those should be done before turbo anyway IMO. I wish I did my brakes and suspension before turbo. |

basically ms, injectors, intake mani, headwork, cops, reroute, etc. None of those really will give you much when n/a but are way useful when turbo so you can't go wrong.

I'm going to go with suspension being the best non-turbo upgrade for our cars. |
An ECU. Decent NA gains, required for big forced induction.

Rollbar (safety and chassis rigidity), MS3x/EV14 injectors/wideband O2 (the only power mod that will stay in with FI and a decent increase in power on a '99/00), aluminium radiator, and any handling/stopping stuff.

Most of the engine and drivetrain stuff would be overbuilt and somewhat wasted NA so my vote would be suspension, tires and stiffening/safety. In the meantime, if something wears out or breaks, go big so you don't need to do it twice.
For example, you don't need to upgrade your radiator until you turbo but if the crappy OEM plastic tank cracks, go for the baller crossflow since it needs to be done anyway. |
