NA8 BP05 cap idle air with filter?

I’ve got an MS2 and I’m building the intake for a non-turbo build (replacing MAF with the GM IAT) but I’m having clearance issues with getting a nipple in to route a hose to the IAC.

Can I get away with just capping the IAC with a filter? Or, still ghetto, but less so (?), can I route a long hose with a filter so it’s roughly near the main intake filter? I’m [naively] assuming that the idle control is really only for cold-starts and under hot load, this circuit isn’t sucking any air.

At this point it’s not lost on me that I should’ve just done the head swap to get all the benefits of the 4W throttlebody….

Appreciate all help and suggestions in advance.

Thanks.

You can put an NB throttle body on your NA head. The IAC is always allowing air flow at idle. It needs filtered air.

With speed density while naturally aspirated, you can use a small filter right on the IAC input port. This is not an option for FI without a check valve, or on a metered (AFM or MAF) configuration.

Edit: I should note that you will not be getting accurate IAT like this, and are more likely to heat soak the IAT sensor during extended idle periods.
