NB Auto/Manual Swap - Auto has ~10hp less than manual motor?

99 NB, automatic - Searched, couldn't find definitive answers (or searched for wrong thing) Not sure where to post this, but hopefully somebody can help.

I'm about to swap my automatic for a manual transmission. I have compiled almost all the parts needed.

My question here is that I've read the automatic motors were detuned as much as 10 hp? I'd love to regain that lost power before spending money to add more power. (turbo likely)

I will be replacing the ECU with the one for the manual transmission, so if anything was written into the maps or whatever, that will be gone.

Is it a cam issue that I have to deal with from here? Is it the cam gears or the cams themselves?

If it's a cam issue, should I bother replacing this stuff with OEM manual motor parts or just go to aftermarket cams directly? (obviously, I want to save money where I can get away with it)

in the 1.6L the cam was different. that was about it, but it had a better profile for boost.

A reply on Miata.net said that the 1.8 motors are all the same. Good news for me!

One more box to check off.

Generally, engines wihch came in auto variants have a slightly lower Cr and "less aggressive" (I don't know whether through lift or duration or both - maybe someone will chime in) cams.

Less HP n/a, but better for b00stz.
