NB throttle on NA - yes ? no ?
I got an NB throttle laying around, is there any point in using it on my NA ?
Thanks ! |
Usually an NB throttle body, being X years newer, will have less dirt and grime accumulated on it.
|
What are you trying to accomplish?
Or do you just like to do random crap for no reason? |
Less shitty IAC stuff?
|
NB IAC is better? How so?
|
Probably works the same, but all the hoses and stuff are cleaner. My NA throttle body on my 95 was preventing me from doing the homebrew re-route. NB1 TB fixed that.
Worth mentioning i had a VICS manifold. |
Hey guys I have parts for a car, is there any point in installing them?
hurrr durrrrr I hate vague questions. I hate lazy people who post crappy threads |
18psi take your comments else where, this is not the first time you post stupid none contributing answers - if you don't like my questions send an official complaint to f***@you.com.
And back to my question, is there any performance enhancement the NB TB has over the NA ? is it bigger ? Both are clean (no EGR) I know the IAC is integrated into it, when the NA is external and needs a hose to the intake piping. |

This seems like a completely legitimate question to me. The NB throttle body is obviously "better" as it makes intake plumbing much simpler and cleaner. It's also a question I've searched a lot on and have never been able to find a straightforward answer to.
Physically the throttle body is directly interchangeable, but the sensors (IAC and TPS) are different. The sensors will not swap between years and, as far as I know, you'll need NB pigtails to splice to the NA harness. When I tried splice the NB wiring to the NA wiring I couldn't ever get the TPS to read correctly. I've read on several forums/threads where people were able to swap them so I know it's possible, just not sure how. If you figure it out let me know. I'd love to get rid of that stupid external IAC. |

The guy had a part laying around, wanted to know if it's better. Maybe his question was vague because he had no way of knowing why it might be better (more power, smoother idle, improved throttle response, less screws falling out, whatever). You can't tell that stuff from looking at it and it would be difficult to find out from searching, all you can really do is ask the experts.
This is the kind of thread that makes me too scared to ask "stupid" questions that I can't find the answer to. I just don't see what the rage is all about. |
I'm not raging at all, this guy has a history of asking questions in this manner, so I'm trying to get him to make them better so that both he and others will benefit from a proper discussion on a specific subject.

I have a history of asking questions ?!!? Last time I checked this was a forum !
I don't think there are stupid questions, and when I don't know something - I ASK ! because a second after I get the answer I'm on the "knowing side". I don't understand how can you "don't like" my questions, I ask what I ask because this is what I want to know. I dig around all the time and I found a lot of answers by my self, when I post a question I think it is a legitimate one. I have a little blog that helps people around and I help people by mail, Facebook and even remote live tuning. You are the only one having "problems" with my questions, that leads me to think the the problem is not with my questions. |
Poorly worded, super vague questions is what I'm referring to. Like people have to pull the question out of you to fully comprehend what you're talking about. It's like you have ADHD.
Just like the other thread you made today about linear boost without providing pretty much any info. Just a vague list of the 5 major components and a weird looking dyno plot. I'm not just nit-picking, I was trying to help, and your vagueness got frustrating. Whatever, I'll just ignore all your threads going forward. Good luck to you. |
Could be I have ADHD, and could be my vagueness is a mirror to the current understanding on the subject.
Look here, I'm no kid, I'm on the internet/forums for 20 years now, I've been owing forums, administrating forums, and participating in them with out any issues, I found it hard to believe I'm the problem. I try to give all the info that comes to mind when I post, and when more info is needed I will post it right up. |

Thanks ! So if ya got one you can use it or it can sit on the bench with all the other crap that one day you "might" get around to fitting. BTW, you shouldn't really do anything "different" apparently its not really acceptable in the MX5/Miata community. CYA Terry |
