slowly turn the CAS while watching the voltmeter

You can turn it with your fingers if you pull it off of the head - you can do it with a wrench on the crank if you haven't pulled it off. Just remember that you need to make two full rotations of the crank to make one full rotation of the CAS.

You must be careful while measuring but the only way to check is to:

Backprobe

make small cuts in the wires

I prefer backprobing. I wrap the leads of my fluke with something rigid and metallic (stainless lockwire) and insert them into the back of the plug (pushing the rubber that seals it to one side or the other). Then measure. That is about the only way to measure the voltage coming out of the cas while rotating the engine by hand.

You could make small incisions in the wires, measure, and seal up (liquid electrical tape or the vinyl stuff) but I feel that's too much work and it could get messy.

thanks for the instructions.

i read on a different forums on how to test the CAS... connect the voltmeter and have a helper crank the engine to check the +5v pulses... would that work? or would the voltmeter not be able to catch a signal?
and if i were to take the CAS off, will oil spill?

thanks so much!

You're acting like a helpless bitch, and it's starting to irritate me. Do you need a fucking support group to go to the bathroom too? Go play on M.Net for awhile. Come back when you ditch the "do it for me" attitude.
