Need some help I.D.ing this turbo
 

OK long/short.

I bought a "turn key" HPDE Car with an advertised t3/4. This car has been anything but turn key. I finally get the motor back in it, all systems hooked up and it smokes like a banshee. Check out the pics.

Anyway its NOT a t3/4. It has a t25/28 hot side, four bolts holding the hotside and a big a$$ snap ring holding the cold side.

I need to ID it so I can stop lubricating my WBO2.

By all means, don't post a pic with anything in it that we could use as a general size reference. Also, do not remove the compressor and turbine housings and measure the wheels with calipers, because that would end the aimless guessing game that we all love so much.

If we're pointlessly guessing and you know it's a T25, the .48 ar compressor could indicate that it's the peashooter off a 300zx or something and you might get 200 hp out of it with a good tune.

Would definitely have to see more pics (downpipe flange, a larger view of the turbo).

+1 on the peashooter off the Z32. The only way to tell is by what the downpipe flange looks like. If it's a 4-stud downpipe flange then sorry, it's a Z32 turbo which is neither upgradeable nor powerful in any way.

I'm just looking for some help with a project I'm almost over my head with. :D

More info, I don't have access to a caliper set. Like everyone else, I trying to stay on a budget and this thing is on a "Boston Big Dig" overrun already!:sad2: Buying a caliper would put a major damper on buying a rebuild kit. I have read those threads though. I'm not to worried about the flow, more getting the correct internal parts for a rebuild.

I'm thinking this is unit from an early 90's Flyin Miata kit (judging by the cross engine IC piping) and a few other tells.

Sorry I don't have the paperwork from my kit to tell me what it is.

It does have a 5 bolt flange to the down pipe.:D (pic)

Does this mean I should be able to buy a t25 trust kit after i figure out if it is dyn. or carbon seal and be in good shape?

what the hell is a trust kit?

When the turbo hits 18 it gets some money to rebuild itself, and hopefully doesn't blow it on stupid shit like a bigger compressor wheel, it just needs to support itself with seals.

That's the smallest of the sleeve bearing t25s supplied by TEC for the old fmii kits, usually used on a 1.6.
