no start

something weird has been going on with my miata for a while and it hasn't been starting. it is running supra light green tops a fpr stock fuel pump and ngk plugs and wires. I had it to the point where i had spark and it would start but wouldn't hold idle. now it wont spark and fuel isnt coming from one of the injectors. but the engine is flooded with fuel and its not sparking. what should i check or do next.

do you have a cat?

scottieboy5612 Nov 18, 2009 12:21 PM

no cat 3 inch straight back pulled the fuel fail a while ago and when i pulled the feed line to the rail fuel went everywhere had to be about half a cup or so should there be that much pressurized fuel sitting in the lines like that

check cam timing.

I had mine jump a few teeth recently due to a small plastic cap falling into the timing belt galley

also my engine seems to be flooding with fuel. i am only running 305cc injectors with a fpr. why does my engine seem to be flooding whenever i pull my plugs they are drenched with fuel stopping them from sparking

Sounds like an injector is sticking and leaking fuel into the cylinder. Easy enough to swap in stock injectors to test.

If you have an injector wire ground it will be wide open when you try and start it. Did you install anything recently and maybe mess with the wiring? When I installed the engine lift hook in my Miata a few years ago, I pinched the injector harness wire under the hook, grounding the injectors. The car flooded when I tried starting it.

Maybe your wiring is rubbing somewhere and there's bare wire touching metal?
