which oil feed should i use?
I have been researching and have come up with two ideas to tap oil for my TD04 13T turbo on my 2003 1.8. Should I use the Sandwich plate at the oil filter http://www.glowshiftdirect.com/vehicle-specific-oil-filter-sender-adapter.aspx
Or a Tee off the oil pressure sensor http://www.frsport.com/Autotech-AM-OPSADP-001-1-8--BSPT-Oil-Pressure-Sensor-Adapter_p_281213.html |
Both are good options or the last one is just finding a nice T with the correct threads for less than 5 bucks.
Like here, the yellow piece. 1996-2005 Miata Oil Supply Line Kit |
I vote for the tee off of the pressure sensor, however not the way you're thinking. Mounting those T fittings, especially brass ones, makes them prone to failure and then you end up dumping oil everywhere and roasting a motor. Instead, get an 1/8 BSP to -4 fitting. Run a -4 line up to the firewall (12 inches or so), put the T fitting there and mount the pressure sensor to the firewall. Then run the oil supply line the rest of the way over to the turbo. I did it that way and it worked well with less chance of catastrophic failure.
