The one Bajillionth Coolant Reroute Question

OK guys.

I may annoy some by asking yet another coolant reroute question, but at least I have made a sweet schematic. Got to be worth something...

Heres the setup:
-'90 Miata
-Escort GT engine ('94)
-Moss Spacer
-1.6 Waterneck on back of cylinder head (attached to moss spacer)
-Thermostat in stock Escort location
-Street driven car - want to keep heater core and Idle control valve
-Not put together yet - engine is getting a stock rebuild before going in the car.

So, the question is: Is this going to work? Looks like it might be a real pain to get the oil cooler routed back to the heater core. Have to go under the oil pan.

I have already drilled and tapped the head for the 5/8" fitting, but after making the schematic, it looks like I will need to plug it. I think that using the stock escort 5/8 hose going to the oil cooler, in parallel with the new 5/8" fitting drilled in the head would cause too much bypass.

Any better ideas?

will the oil cooler flow enough water to support the heater core? I remember those water connections to be quite small...

Probably be better to put the oil cooler after your idle air valve - my opinion.

Yeah, the Miata Oil cooler has really small ports (maybe 1/4" or 3/8"?), but the Escort GT cooler has big giant 5/8" ports on it. I believe that it has the big ports because it feeds the heater core in the Escort application, but I've never looked under the hood of an Escort, so can't be sure.

looks like it would work to me.
