PCV valve necessary?
Recently bought a turbo miata. Only issue it has is the start up. I have to put my foot on the gas for a bit or the idle drops and die out. People told me it could because there's a pcv valve missing for it. So I bought one tried it out the first time my buddy held it in place it worked perfectly. 2nd time it still had the same symptom. The car felt like it was running better with the pcv valve on, but it felt like the car was running hotter than before so I took it off. He has it capped where the throttle body is. I'm completely new to turbos and was wondering if he did that for a reason? Like he built it like that or should I put the pcv valve back on? The car is running on MS. PO said it's just the tuning that the start up is like that.

Took it to a miata meet over here in Hawaii, people suggested that I buy a MSM one because it came turbo. Then after some searches they told me a 323 gtx would work too. How's the fm one? Is it worth $37?

If it were my car I would absolutely utilize the PCV system.
I don't know why having a PCV installed would lead to an overheating issue, and I believe your issue is tuning related, but I'm not that great at tuning myself. |
Maybe consider getting rid of the butt connectors on the injectors. Solder and shrink tube. I know it's not a problem now, but....I might become one later.

Pcv system won't cause any overheating. Simply install a hose from the intake manifold to the valve.
Cold start is a tuning issue, including cranking duty, after start enrichments, cranking pulses, and many more. |
Positive Crankcase Ventilation system vacuums out harmful blow by that makes its way past the piston rings into the oil like unburnt fuel, combustion gasses, water vapor, etc. Your oil can become diluted or turn to sludge. I would not remove the PCV valve because the crankcase would no longer be ventilated.
