Don't want a 1.8 and I have a 1.6 block already. Don't feel traveling to grab a 1.8 block.
|
Well that bore size isn't going to happen unless you sleeve your block. But, like I said before nothing that you could ever want cannot be done at an off the shelf size bore.

Where do you live ? I will find you a cheap block to end this ridiculous discussion. |
LOL I hope this is a troll thread. otherwise......wow

He's a bit of a 'special' case. Read his other posts. o.O

Why do you think you can safety overbore a 1.6 motor by 3+mm?

Various other sources talking about bore ups to those sizes. |
To awnser my own question, so far
I"ve seen audi pistons 80mm starting at little higher ch and 20mm pin Honda b16\17\18 pistons all start at 81mm, bigger pin and I believe lower ch Toyota pistons for a 4agze seem to be hot ticket as someone already linked to what piston I"ve found interesting is the b18b pr4, I need to get my hands on one to measure it up to a stock one. |
You do understand that those motors have different block designs which mean that their waterjackets and spacing between the bores allows for more bore? You still haven't answered the question as to why you want to spend 3K on custom pistons/sleeves/labor when your goal is to run a 2.5" exhaust, specv injectors and a MR2 intercooler?
Please, enlighten me. |

You would rather locate a set of non-standard pistons and have custom cylinder sleeves made than drive a few miles to pick up a 1.8 block? I occurs to me that you may not be familiar with his history of the B-series engine, and jtothawhat is on-par here. The casting used on the B6 engine was originally designed for the B3 engine, which had a 71mm bore diameter. Thus, even at the "stock" 1,600 cc, this engine is significantly overbored to begin with. Thinking that you can push it significantly further belies a shocking lack of common sense. Tell ya what. Take that 1.6 block that you've got and slap a ruler on the deck surface. Measure the thickness of the material between two adjacent cylinders, and then subtract from that the amount by which you propose to overbore. Perhaps that will open your eyes. If you want to keep babbling after that, then I think you might find a more receptive audience at CR.net. |
Measured it, it will still have enough material in there even at the spots with the least ammount of material. Which would be the front, the rear and the driver side cylinder 4.

Please, enlighten me. I don't want to spend 3k on custom pistons because I'm not going to get custom pistons or sleeves. It will just be bored out and a piston around the range to bring it to 1.7l will be used. If I can find a oem solution like from a honda engine than we can possibily have access to more options for building our engines, who knows. I'm doing this because it been shown to work, and I'm looking at more power. I don't feel llike getting a 1.8l, why stop there, there is other inlien 4\6\v6\v8s I could look at that could probably hold together better than the 1.8. Where does it stop? My goals changed since that, currently I have 460 rx7 injectors, I found out the specv ones wouldn't direct fit in. I would buy ID1000's next time around. Have 2.5 exhaust on it now with a flowtech warlock muffler. I had an idea on the mr2 intercooler eariler but I no longer care, I plan to throw a fmic on it and run piping up and over the radiator to tb\turbo. You will love the intercooler piping I will use;) I still have a goal to put a TB infront of the turbo later to see how it alters power delievery. |

Anything over .60 over (which is what I have) will notwork with FI unless you plan on running the risk punching a hole into the next cylinder. You still never answered the question as to why the hell you want to go that big? |
Stop trying to convince him.
Seriously. Everyone. Stop. I want to see what happens when he runs this +3mm. Popcorn is ready. OP: You can definitely do it. Don't mind all these playa hatas. They just trying to keep you down, you knows? Be balla and does it. |

Nothing in this thread is making any sense. You want more power, so you're going to bore the B6 cylinder walls into the fucking jackets, but you won't get a BP?
whatthefuckamireading.avi |
More power? you do realize you'll never make more power then me and im running off the shelf wiescos right?
Replacement for displacement is boost, if you want more displacement get a 1.8 and bore it to 1996CC okay, enough feeding the troll. |
