Things that make you go hmmmm
I checked the crank sensor, and the wiring for the sensor was led up right behind a pulley that it has probavly been rubbing on since the car was new, the covering and one of the wires was worn through, I believe it would be the ground wire, it was a solid black wire, which would explain why it was intermittent. Thanks for your suggestions and info, hopefully my problem is solved. Now to go for a nice long test drive! |
that sucks. but at least the crank sensor and wiring isn't hard to get to. every time I look at the little bent tab that is supposed to hold those wires away from the pulleys I wonder about how reliable it is.

Was the wire intact within the worn insulation? If it was and it was the ground wire then you have yet to find the problem. (sorry) |
