Reputable head builders
 

Looking for recommendations to get some minor headwork done. Standard valve job, cams/subs install, slight deshroud and a head shave. Local quotes have been around $1k from reputable, but non-Miata specific builders in my area. Curious if that sounds reasonable, and if not, who I should be sending my parts to. I haven't bought a head yet, figured I'd just dropship that to whoever ends up working on it.

I have to check my receipts but if I recall I had headlock done by the same guy that built my motor which is the same guy that Soviet used to assemble his.

I provided all the parts and it was around 600-700 for labor. Cleaning, replacing guides, cutting for +1mm valves all around and install valve train and set clearances etc. Basically a head plus parts to swap ready head including RA50 finish.


This guy would talk muscle cars all day and is a master machinist, though the shop was scary looking. Everything works where it matters.
