Default Rod Knock question

I am looking for some much needed guidance.I have slight rod knock, and I have a few ideas on what to do. Should I rebuild my current 1.6 or do I purchase a 1.8l and swap it in there. I eventually want to turbo my engine, no matter which one it is. Which one will be less expensive in the long run and which will be more effective.
What should I look for?
All and any help is appreciated!
Please and thank you!!!!!

You should probably search. 1.8 is superior to the 1.6 in every way.

1.6 will be cheaper to source if you are buying a used motor. rebuilding either will cost about the same. 1.8 > 1.6 in the long run you will be happier with a 1.8 and be making more power easier. also consider what it takes to swap a 1.8 into a 1.6 chassis. ecu, misc sensors etc. Ive never done it but its not a direct drop in.

Buy a 99+ 1.8 liter.
