RTV choice for VC and baffles

I always thought grey permatex was good enough but than someone mentioned that Hondabond is a better overall RTV. So is Mazda Grey not the same as Honda Bond and is just the labeling made by Permatex for all?

I like black Permatex, far more elastic than the gray one when dry.

Three Bond, for those that dont suck at life.

I used some "The Right Stuff" black rtv, with blue thread locker on the screws. No problems.

The advantage of 2 stroke case sealants like Honda Bond is they are VERY resistant to oil and also FUEL.

If you actually need a better baffle you are probably venting a lot of fuel in the process, as my oil sampling shows.

Will P gray work - yes. Will case sealant work better - probably.

I use AC Delco gray RTV for just about everything. But I work for Buick/GMC and usually have stuff left over from jobs. I used that to seal the baffle plates on my cover without any issues or deterioration.

The Permatex BLACK is the highest oil resistant for that bran and similar. The OE seal suppliers(like felpro/mahle) have good quality rtv and is usually black. Obviously OEM stuff like hondabro is top quality. But to make any of them work requires proper prepping of both surfaces.

Thank you. I would expect the surface prep needs to be similar for all RTV brands used. Free of oil and debris.
