Sanity check - 2001/2002 1.8 swap into a 1993
This is roughly the same as a 1999/2000 would be, except for i need to either disable or control vvt, correct?
Sorry, just haven't thought about miata stuff in a little too long and am slightly out of touch. *lubing up for Hustler* :fawk: |
why would there be a difference?
|
I couldn't think of a reason, but that doesn't mean there isn't one... hence my question and warning that it's a sanity check.
let the flogging commence? |
You'll need to run some wires for the sequential fuel too, but you are on the right track.
|
K. Just wanted to make sure i could jump on this motor deal and not regret it later. I can figure the details out as I go along.
Thanks guys. |
I have just done a 2001 engine swap into a 1990 mx5. But i swapped everything including the whole wiring loom, interior, etc. There are some things that need to be done, but the hardest was wiring the pop up headlights.

But yeah, it's the same. If not running on stock ECU, get the NB throttle body and throttle cable as well. Otherwise you need the throttle body adapter and all that junk. |
I've done 5 of these swaps. You run 2 extra wires for sequential fuel and 1 extra wire for VVT. Easy peasy.

I just picked up one of these engines cheap I glad to hear it is not hard. I have a short nose so I need the big nose crank pully, vvt controler from diyauto and flyn miata kit and I am good?

What kind of power increase will I see with a similar manifold and psi.
