Default OE headgasket question

Is it fibrous, or is it a coated-steel headgasket?

I've used Evans Coolant in a number of VWs with success, I'd like to do so with my new Miata. I ask because Evans is an oil, and it easily crept past the fibrous headgaskets and into the cylinders with my VWs. It wasn't a problem with the later 3-pc coated-metal headgaskets found in ABAs and similar..

If Mazda only offers fibrous gaskets, I might have to pony-up for a copper HG instead...

Thanks.

From what I've heard, the 99+ miata has a 3 layer steel gasket. All the ones before that are the composite gaskets.

Mines' a '97, good to know.

Thanks all.

Edit-- To add; what online sources for OE parts do you all use? I'll be after a HG, front and rear main seals, tranny seals in the bell housing, T/O brg, clutch set, etc... Getting ready for an engine install.
