Looks pretty similar.
Quick look at pictures of the head gaskets for a 1990 323 vs a 1990 miata show they are pretty close too.

The cas should bolt right up and fit the head. I can't say ifbit will clear the firewall.

Guy on the festiva forum tried a dohc head on a sohc block didn't work valves hit the pistons. The valve reliefs on the pistons are in the wrong places.

Did they make a 16v sohc 1.6 head like they did for the 1.8?

Ok heres my thoughts. I understand how a dohc head in a sohc block may not work. Even though these are non interference motors... BUT a sohc 8v head should be fine on a 16v dohc block. It sounds like the safest thing to do would be turn it over by hand a few times an see if it binds.

Ive never seen anyone do anything like it. I was very impressed with what can be done to the sohc motors in hondas. So opposed to building another turbo dohc motor i wanna frankenstein some stuff to be the first. Everyones seen the v8 miatas an everyone knows a boosted dohc is fast but i doubt if anyones seen a boosted sohc mazda motor. Just the noise that little sohc will make is gonna be rad.

most of the Frankenstein honda motors go from sohc to dohc or non-vtec to vtec, possibly lower or increase compression ratio without machining.. This just gets you less flow..So any other reasons?

Ah, yes. The classic "because nobody else has done it" line of reasoning.

If the valves hit with a dohc head on sohc block Im pretty sure it wont work other way around. Have fun being different with your head that has no aftermarket support and flows even worse than a b6 dohc.

Wanna be different and actually make power? Find a jdm zl-ve head and swap that on.
