dang dude look like you put in the time on that one
|
looks awesome. did you record any flow bench numbers?
|
Sadly the customer was in a rush to receive it so we didn't have time to flow this one. How ever we do plan on flowing a few of our other manifolds that we have ported and have in stock.
Our lead porter was very proud of this one, he didn't want to give it back to the customer. lol |
A+ for effort for sure. Good looking surface roughness in there. Uniform but slightly grainy. That should help with the atomization nicely.
|
How much do you charge for porting a head or a manifold like the one above?

We'll have more information up as soon as we get our sponsor status figured out, dont want to step on anyone's toes!

The turbulence in the airflow is more important post injector (the last path to the back of the valve), not a big chance of getting a layer of fuel in these runners.

We have four manifolds going out today for flow bench testing! 2 Stock, and 2 Ported counterparts! Numbers should be in soon!

Atomization of what?
Unless the owner is planning on running 5th injector setup or water injection right after the TB the rough surface isnt needed. |
Well... depending on cam timing, valve overlap and whether it's batched fuel or not...fuel. Since the intake valve opens before the piston has reached TDC, There is a slight amount of reversion, Isn't there? Also, in a batched injection setup with multiple squirts, isn't there a possibility of drawing fuel in from adjacent runners? Granted, It's probably negligible with a manifold with longer runners.
I would think that airflow that's inherently unstable as it passes the injector would aid in atomization. It's just a thought, I could be wrong. I know it makes more of a difference post injector. |
hey did you get my pm?
|
After thinking about it a bit, I guess the scavenging effect of the exhaust pulse would tend to negate the reversion theory, wouldn't it. Anything above an idle rpm would probably keep everything flowing in the right direction anyway.
Forget I said anything. Still nice work though. |
well guys we have some free time lets get some of these miata intake manifolds in for some port work!
|
Sounds great! We have a few on the way now, testing and numbers will come soon enough!
