spark plugs

i tried to buy NGK Iridiums from Autozone (their website said availabe online or special order for store pickup)... then 5 days later i get an e-mail that they're discontinued!?

Amazon.com says in stock and "ships from and sold by" them as well, so i'll give it a shot. :vash:

Where do you guys buy them from usually?

18psi 04-12-2010 07:58 PM

got my shit on ebay. 13 shipped iirc.

ctxspy 04-12-2010 08:02 PM

Have you had good luck with the iridiums?? I gave up on the platinum plugs in my car a few years back; I seemed to get better spark under boost with the plain copper NGKs gapped tight. At about $12/set, I just change them every year.

BKR7E x 0.030" gap = win for $2-3 each

mazpr 04-13-2010 05:41 PM

Iridium 7 heatrange like 7 dollar a piece on Amazon, golden pieces they are...

ctxspy 04-13-2010 06:06 PM

i'm sure the bkr7e's are just as good as the bkr7eix's (iridium), but i figure it's a small actual difference in price, and if they last longer i'm happy.

as far as having good luck with them, hard to say.. i've done a lot of incremental things since getting the last set of iridiums so during the troubleshooting process i'm sure theyve taken their fair share of abuse (running too rich for a while, then too lean, then cranking for extend period w/o starting, repeat).

This.

I tried all the fancy plugs, even Densos a while back, and nothing was as consistent as regular old NGKs. This has been true with every Japanese car I've owned.

lol @ gospeed81 -- you must be pretty good at that by now.. how long does it take you, 10 minutes?

Less. I have the COPS on a hold down bracket so it all comes up as a unit, 3 10mm valve cover screws and then in with the spark plug socket.

Plugs are cheap, and the cheap ones work. Easiest way to know what's going on in your motor, and keep it firing well all in one.

According to my shitty keyring gauge, the brk7e comes gapped at .030 out of the box. Do you all see that too?

Hello,

The BKR7E is still available. The only thing that changed was the package quantity and the stocking number. The new stock number is 4644

That was the reply from the NGK rep.

They come pregapped between .030 and .034 I believe.
Most of us without COPs or some other stronger coil have to close that down to more like .025-.028.

I have an old system3 begi kit with ihi turbo running 10lbs. I'm not really sure if this kit has stock or upgraded coils. what gap should i run on the Bkr7e's?

.3

If you have problems go to .25

Faeflora 05-15-2010 12:20 AM

What do you all use for gapping? All that I have is one of these crappy discs. It sucks.
