Same dyno both times?

Did this ever get resolved?

Yes it did. Finally had a chance to go to the dyno.
It was the cam timing. Went from 189 to 216 rwhp.

Whoa so a 27rwhp gain from bad timing.
Just how bad was it?

concealer404 03-05-2019 10:41 AM

Probably just one tooth.

i experienced a similar difference when fitting my new cams to my Nat asp track car.
dropped them in at 0advance it gave 140hp on the dyno. My engine builder suggested 2deg adv on intake and 4deg retard on exhaust gave him the best outputs on the (same spec) engines he had done before, so I adjusted the cam gears to 2deg in, 4deg ex, only to find power dropped to 127hp. Realising I had my advance/retard back to front I swapped it to correctly be +2,-4 and spun it up again, and got 153hp. So 26hp difference with no changes at all except for moving the cam gears.. if someone had told me that beforehand I would have laughed at them.

Without knowing what intake and cam setup you had before, I can offer no useful input.

Had a stock 99 intake manifold before with stock cams and mp62. Got the some power back after installing adjustable cam gears.

Am I within range of average hp it should be putting out or am I still on the low side? It's about 14psi at full boost.

Something else has changed. Could be compression loss, bad fuel, ECU map change, weather, dunno. Also need to verify dyno conditions were the same, SAE corrected or no correction. tire size, inflation pressure, weight on back of car.

Many variables.

...is the rest of the thread not showing up for you? We all guessed cam timing 6mos ago, OP confirmed his cam timing was off 5 days ago and the car gained 14whp over his original baseline with the issue corrected.
