Square Top Intake Manifold

Looking for a little help. I have searched multiple forums, Google, and Bing to no avail. I just installed a square top EUDM intake manifold on my 99 head. Does anyone know if the crossover tube on the European Miata with the square top intake manifold came with a resonated crossover tube? I have the stock 99 USDM non resonated crossover tube installed. I want to make sure I have the best crossover tube for this installation.

Thanks.

And yes, eudm cars came with the resonated tube.

Thanks for letting me know. I will track one down.

Not yet

Not yet. I just had Panic Motorsports build me a new engine. VVT bottom end, rebuilt SM formally legal 99 head, square top, RB header, 2.25" exhaust, and 99 TB. Currently has the 99 crossover tube and a SM FPR. I just ordered a MSPNP2 that they will dyno tune with MAF delete. Two maps, one for power and one for fuel economy. Their tuner doesn't think we'll need the resonated crossover. He is recommending I go with something like the K&N typhoon. I expect it will be done mid May. I'll update then. This is in a 97.

There should be no tune differences between power and fuel economy. The cells you are in when cruising are completely different then when you are WOT. I also am almost 100% positive that the dyno Panic Motorsports has is not load bearing, so they can't exactly tune different cells for MBT.

Thanks for the reply. I'm not sure if it's load bearing either. They used it to tune in the Adjustable FPR and timing with the stock ecu so I can drive it until the MS is installed. I'll be installing an MTX-L with the MS next week. Is there an MS tuner in SC that has a load bearing dyno? My limited search has not turned up any that other Miata people recommend.

They maintain another car with the same engine setup as me. It uses the MSPNP2 and the owner is happy with their tune, so hopefully I'll be happy as well. I don't track the car so I can live with it if it doesn't make max power. I will have the knock sensor hooked up to the MS.

MSPNP2 has no good knock detection, at least not in the software. So there really isn't a point to hooking up a knock sensor. I don't doubt they will do a decent job and get you a car that runs and drives well. Right now I don't have any other leads on tuning. I have access to a load bearing dyno, but I don't have the time right now to take on tuning peoples cars. You can email DIYAutoTune and they will recommend a shop in ATL that does MS tunes, if you rather drive there.

I am hoping sometime this year once I get cars working again to do a SC MKTurbo Dyno day out at Panic.

It's load bearing

I just texted Steve, and he confirmed that his dyno is load bearing. Thanks again for the reply, I'm just starting to learn this MS stuff.

That is good to hear, when I last talked to Steve about buying a dyno a few years ago he was not sure if it was worth spending the additional money to get a load bearing dyno. Mind asking him what make and model he bought?
