Stainless air filter and velocity stack

So my close friend is a manager at O'reily auto parts, and I was talking to him in there and looking around and saw this Spectre Performance - Official Site It says not to use in dusty conditions, what about street driving? He can get it for ~18 dollars retails for 75? anyone else use one? and they also sell velocity stack kits super ricer YES! but has anyone used one on a miata? I could get that for under $20 to :hustler:

Pretty sure I have seen those at autozone for 20-30 bucks..

Braineack 02-11-2009 09:37 AM

that website sucks. i cant even see the product.

ok was able to see it on the pdf catalog...

the velocity stack is non-functional, but it does allow for more air to flow through it instead of a solid cap. The suggestion for non-dusty areas suggests it doesn't filter well, that suggests it's a better filter for performance.

It's just another filter, nothing special about it, do you need one?

Yea I need a new one my old K&N got lost? when I re-made my intercooler pipes etc.. and he doesnt get a good discount on K&N brand stuff

They make the paper fiber filters too... thats what I have on my car right now.

Id say go for it. An intake is an intake, its a pipe and a filter. Only intake I have ever used I think may have been better than the rest was an APEXi "Power Intake" with the internal funnel thing. I plan on running one of these once I go turbo, if only for the fact they look good. A bit costly though, universal kit like $120.

He should have 25% off on all products including k&n. I do NOT recommend anything specture brand. According to tests (Well 1 test which people requoted 100x) The apexi is the best. Personally, i hate all these oil filtered intakes.

Lookie here. http://www.mkiv.com/techarticles/filters_test/2/

That test is one of the things that made me go with the Apex over any other. Still today after 4 or 5 years, and probably 4 or 5 other filters on other cars, that one still stands out in quality and performance.
