Dwell reducing circuit for Toyota COPs
Just finished off this circuit using a 0.47Ω 100W resistor. Reduces the operating voltage down to about 8.5V which is about right for the 5.5ms dwell times of the 1.6 ECU.
To avoid frying the coils when the ignition is in the 'ON' position but the engine not running, a SPDT relay was used and tapped into the fuel pump relay. When the engine is cranked, it turns the circuit on.
I sourced the 12Vs from the main relay box. Only thing I'm unsure of is I built the circuit for 20amps which may not be sufficient after checking over my calcs again.
Those who are more electronic savvy than I am, mind chiming in your thoughts?
