Successful 300whp, Stock 1.6

Got on the dyno this weekend and broke my goal of 300! I was running around 18psi from a Greddy turbo. Only 19* of timing and some meth. Pretty happy to hit that number.https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...b35a664094.jpg

Congrats. Thats amazing from that setup.
Was the dyno in "shootout" mode?

Rshannon1 08-29-2016 11:28 AM

Thanks! It was not. It was on a Dyno Dynamics, and that shop always has their CF at 1.03. So take away 3% and it's like 295. Still very happy with it. Tuned it so the torque stays around 250 to save parts. I swapped the 6 speed in this weekend as well, don't want to grenade the 5 speed.

Congrats on the numbers. What's left of the Greddy setup?

Rshannon1 08-29-2016 11:41 AM

The turbo and the manifold. I was considering also ditching that manifold for a better flowing one, because I believe it could be a restriction in the upper rpm range. But since I'm buying a built motor next month it'd be better to wait and just run an absurd flow with a much bigger turbo.

You are buying a built 1.8 motor correct? Where are you getting your absurdflow setup from?

Rshannon1 08-29-2016 12:27 PM

It's a built 1.6. I know yeah yeah 1.8 is better. But it's a fully built motor with clutch, turbo, manifold, pnp head, valves, springs. EVERYTHING done to it. All for only 3k shipped, and has 500 miles on it. It's a stupid good deal. The slow spool I can make up for in revving it out. If I want to down the road I'll do a 1.8. But for that price, it's worth it imo. The absurd flow will come with that motor.

You seem to be missing something. AbsurdFlow is a brand of turbo manifolds on here made by TurboTim. So every time you say that, I think of his manifolds. As far as I know he does not and has not ever built 1.6 manifolds.

One of Tim's first manifolds was for a 1.6. It has been around the NE for awhile, but not on a built motor yet that I am aware of.

I did not know that. I am willing to bet, it is not going to this guy though.

I meant to say absurd flow style. The shop he had it fabbed at based the design on the absurd flow.

OK. That makes a ton more sense and is reasonable.

250(+) / 250, at 5200 RPM.. No wonder it isn't breaking. Bet its a freight-train after 5k though. What are the "specs" on the Greddy turbo, the same unit that comes with the old 1.6 Greddy kit?
