Holy hell, that was easy! Keep in mind I am exceedingly stupid, lazy, fat, and drunk 95% of the time. It only took me 5 hours over 3 days, not starting until after 8 pm, working in solitude.

Thanks a lot to all for the advice, I even left the driveshaft bolted up to the diff, and ziptied it to the ppf, as per Savingaton. Having the tilt-a-whirl from HF on the crane helped a bunch, the engine/trans unit needs quite a tilt to clear the body and firewall on it's way out. I am 100% sure that this method was easier than unbolting the trans.

anyone who ever suggests separating the tranny is easier likes ----, taking it that is.

A well working lift always helps out the process.

I usually just drain the transmission to avoid the mess.

But yeah, it is very easy to just leave everything attached and separate the trans later.

I can't imagine how it wouldn't drain past the tailshaft when it's tilted that much. So, yeah, I drained it. It even spilled out of the turret a little, no biggie, though.

Yeah, it spills if you tilt it without the driveshaft in. I meant to ziptie it to the tranny so it comes out with the whole package. I've been meaning to hack up an old 1.6 driveshaft to make a plug for it.
