Thinking about upgrades.
Well, I am thinking about buying a ebay 3" mandrel bent exhaust kit. And replace my crimp bends.
Build a 3 inch DP. Also, I currently have no cat on the system. So I need something in the spot. So if there is room, I will add the 30 inch magnaflow 6" round muffler, 3" in and out, in place for a resonator. These round mufflers work great on sportbikes. I figure that and the fart can, might work. Later, I can add a real magnaflow oval as well on the back. The muffler is 101.00, and the mandrenal bends are not much. I figure 60 -$70, with DP no more than $100 labor. So for the final price of a good prefab exhaust. I should have a good downpipe and exhaust. What do you think? (Yea, I know I'm doing alot to save $120 on exhaust, but I also get a 3" downpipe too. LOL ) |

I also want to do minor shock upgrade. My shocks are out. I have Racing Beat swaybars, and springs.
I DD it. What do you recommend. Adjustable KYB's, or a sport non adjustable something. I want something where I don't feel everycrack in the road. But still handle better than stock. I don't want to shake my car up either. I'm going for all around, not just race or street. So if you know of a good set of shock for common ground. Let me know. Thanks |

I for one like your plan of attack. A 3" exhaust is definitely a very good improvement. I plan on upgrading my 2.5" as soon as I can.

I wish i could find an exhaust shop that is willing to do labor for 100. I went to a shop and the second they saw the turbo they have $$$ in their eyes. Fuckers tried to charge me $250 for a foot of pipe with a flange. Fucking bullshit.

And then I low ball them with cash in hand too. LOL When it is done, I usually buy them a coke. Just to prepare for next time. LOL Your in Cali, try some hispanic or redneck side show mufflers shops. I drive straight past namebrand shops. |
i will only pay full price for bilstein, tein, and ultra-high end shit...but the tokiko's I have in my daily are fine for the street. You can drive it in a couple weeks if you want to meet up.

LOL. Yea, I ran across a few of those. I always drive to the poor side of town. And wear a Tee shirt and blue jeans. I dress the part! LOL And if they need help lifting something or just help. I jump in.

Fuck that. I love my little tire mounting shop in the shitty part of SJ, but I would never get exhaust work done. The best thing you can do is find a GOOD fabricator and make him your good personal friend (buy him beer). I know a guy in San Jose who would do a testpipe up for $100 no problem, and it would be gorgeous TiG welds and SS flanges, not some spray MIG shit.
The shop I go to has a mig, tig, and acetylene. He usually uses the acetylene on mine. It takes longer, but it is clean, and cheaper. I agree, try not to use crimp bends, and get quaility. But for random muffler welding a regular shop is good for me. As long as the inside of the pipe has no restrictions. I'm good. My stuff is intentionally on a DIY budget. LOL My guy would build a test pipe for probably $35. It is according to the price of parts. If you have a fabricator friend, thats sweet. I trade Beer for work TOO! LOL |
just buy a damn enthuza exhaust. Its $500 and it gets no better, and you never have to jack with it again.
|
If all of us had the kind of money you do to throw around we'd all have enthuza
|
I like the exhaust idea. I'll probably just go enthuza because its easy, and I like easy.
Im on Illumina's and stock springs right now, along with FM bars, and the handling is great with great ride comfort. I do plan to redo my suspension again soon though and go FM springs and FCM mounts for a slight drop. Ill sell you my R package Bilsteins w/ 100k miles on them :) Revalved I hear they have the best combo of handling and ride. But a revalve costs too damn much, which is why they are sitting in my closet. |
