Timing belts.
Hey guys sorry for such a basic boring question. I cant be bothered taking off my timing belt and spinning my crank to find out if B6's are interference engines or not, and the factory manual doesnt say.
Please enlighten me. Thanks, Dann |
Its non interference. I know cause I broke a timing belt when I had a '91 Miata and it didn't do shit.

non-interference.

Cheers, I appreciate the fast straight forward responses.

Hey seeing how i got away with one basic question how about another... being from australia I can only assume when people talk wtq we are talking ft/lbs?
Cheers, that is all, Dann |
If the timing belt breaks, expect the engine to fall out from under the car and possibly damage the subframes. :giggle:
I've broken one while driving, no big deal....nothing to worry about. |

Low kms and a broken belt? Exactly how low are they? Should be good to 130K-160k kms or so..though Mazda recommends every 96k. Oil on the belt can cause a premature failure, so check to see if there is any oil seeping around the bottom of the front of the motor as a bad front main seal can put oil on the belt (this was why mine failed).

Thanks Doppelgange. 130,000km I havent seen the car im familiar with the oil leak issue.
Thanks. |
