Miata Turbo Forum - Boost cars, acquire cats. - tricky noise from 04 msm sounds like a bad HLA but isnt obviously! opinions!?

so 2 weeks ago i unfortunately oil starved somewhere in my engine, my oil cooler line somehow got a cut in it and drained all my oil and i ran it while spilling at 4500 rpm because thats what i cruise at on freeway, i immediately shut it off and towed her home and took my oil cooler off for now,filled oil started it up and it honestly sounds like a heavy HLA sound but i have solid shim over bucket in my mazda speed miata, it is ONLY on acceleration and not deceleration of the rpms unlike where rod knock is both or on deceleration, i took my measurements and the max outta spec is .002 for valve lash, all shims are good no cracks they have wear but nothing weird or anything, same as the housing for the lifter, i have the super miata duel valve springs but i dont think oil starvation can mess up valve springs, it highly sounds like its in the top end, it sounds like it goes away just about completely after 3200 rpm kinda, i compression check at 182 exact across all 4.. i cant figure it out and i might need to just dive into the engine but im just trying to rule out everything first, i took the cams out to inspect everything as in camps, lifters and shims and tried to see as much as i can with springs but nothing crazy... at idle its such a slight tap only on revs and under load revs until 3200, any ideas?
