underdrive pulley size

As the title. What is the diameter of an underdrive pulley for a 1.8?

Its a question about the size of it, not about what it will do to an oil pump. I understand that if i fit one it will make the baby Jesus sad and some puppies will also die;).

43mm, as measured at the lowest point of the groove.

With stock being 130mm that's a real reduction (1/3 of stock). :D

Its the diameter i'm after that must be the thickness?

Nope, the ones I manufacture are 43mm in diameter. They provide a much lower drive ratio than the cheap, aluminum underdrive pulleys you commonly see on eBay. It's almost like the alternator and water pump aren't turning at all.

They're pretty impressive- barely larger than the crankshaft itself.

Could you show me one fitted to an engine please?

If I were to post pictures of my revolutionary invention, others would just steal the design and copy it.

You'll have to take my word for it that my pulley improves engine cooling while freeing up at least 10 BHP, improves the longevity of the oil pump gears, and triples your chances of scoring a date with Charlize Theron, all with no negative impact on alternator performance.

I can show you one of the early design concept sketches, though the finished product implements numerous improvements over this early drawing:

Real answer: Is there any one specific pulley you're inquiring about, or were you hoping that all aftermarket pulleys, regardless of who makes them, are of exactly the same dimensions?

Paul

this is why i posted the above, maybe what i should of written is please don't take the piss as its just a question if you don't know the answer then don't say anything.

So i don't have to explain please see my build thread. Space is at a premium and need to reduce the diameter of the pulley to make room for a steering rack.

And to correct you that's actually a question!

You're getting trolled because your question makes no sense. You want to know the diameter of "an underdrive pulley" without specifying which pulley you're talking about, or what brand, or any other details that might help us answer your question. If you want a good answer, you have to ask a good question.

Oh yes King Paul, let us all go out of our ways and find your thread to learn about your shitty build because you simply cant ask a question that makes sense.

I dunno why, but I always laugh when people say "take the piss"....it just makes no sense

It's a common expression in British english. To "take the piss" roughly means to mock or humiliate someone.

And, to be fair, we have some expressions in American english which are just as absurd. To quote the great philosopher Beavis: "How come they call it taking a dump when you're really leaving a dump? I mean, you're not really taking it anywhere... "

mgeoffriau May 26, 2015 11:04 AM

You guys taking the mick out of British colloquialisms?

18psi May 26, 2015 11:09 AM

Beavis
