Default Slipped timing...

How bad of a knock could a engine make of the intake cam slipped by one advanced tooth past the mark? After a while and 1000's of miles, I now hear this clanking sound, so I checked the timing first, and found out that the timing was a little off, I believed the belt slipped. The worst I fear is something broken, like a rod or something else. There are no metal glitter in the oil, so for now I am ruling out the broken and just hoping its the timing, for now, the car is parked.
