Valve Cover Painting
I have not checked the dyno yet, but I believe this may contribute 10-40 rwhp. Has anyone done dyno tests on color of valve covers? It would be nice to see if red hits my expected power expectations.
But seriously, this was easier than I expected. VHT SP204 Wrinkle Plus Coating Red. I used high-heat caliper paint for the lettering. I used silver for the lettering after with a ink toner syringe. If I did it again I would have done the lettering first and then used a liquid mask. As you can see the silver is also wrinkle and not as clean as I wanted. Shrug. It'll pass. What do you think? https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...e76bdc7e88.jpg https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...31fdab12ec.jpg |
For sure an easy power adder... :bowrofl:

That looks wicked. It looks angry and evil. I love it. Good job!!!

Not bad! Wrinkle paint can be a fickle, salty bitch, since it's cure is heavily dependent on the environment to achieve texture. Using a heat gun on the wrinkle paint was key. It gave me control to monitor the wrinkle progress and offgassing - way more even and textured. I was pretty amazed.
Still not as durable as PC, bit I'm happy. https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...f0c283f3b8.jpg Wrinkle paint texture, heat gun assisted |
