VVT actuator screw
Was taking the head off of my engine and when I went to remove the 3 Torx screw on the VVT actuator cover one completed rounded out on me. Tried using a extractor and that broke in the screw... I finally when ahead an removed the 4 bolts and just the entire front off.
So few questions. At this point I don't think I'll have any easy luck getting that one screw out nor the extractor bit. -Worth just putting something like JB Weld on it so the bit won't fly out and not worry about it? -I was dumb and didn't mark the cover before I took it off. Is that a problem? -Should I just find another assembly at this point? Was so close to being incident free... |
If you have two screws out, I think you can rotate the cover and that'll help loosen the stuck screw. Only if the head still exists though.

Won't budge at all even with just one screw in (I think that screw is badly seized). So thoughts given that? Thanks!

It's a flat plate held in with a m4 screw. Use a bigger hammer. This should not defeat you.

Curly, thanks for words of encouragement! Hammer got it off! I've heard when opening it things can fall out. Attached is a pic with the front cover off. Everything look in place? Thanks again!

After reading another post looks like I lost the rubber puck. Anyone have an extra?

Enjoy your rattly VVT after taking it apart.

Puck found on ground!
